Seven-forty.

You realize that you’re losing it when you wake up from a Sunday evening nap at 7:40 pm and your eyes read the digital display on the VCR from across the room, but you can’t figure out what “seven-forty” could possibly be.

Seven, or something less than.

And when you said that you'd give anything to have your seven back, what did you mean?

Your life?

It's just a habit, baby.  You can break it.

Somewhere between the stark ferocity of a cold shower and drawing a razor up a pale, too-short leg, it will break.

Like a nail on prom night.

He's hilarious

After taking the time to watch Snakes on a Train, a parody of Snakes on a Plane premiering in theatres on August 18, 2006, my lover blissfully remarked: "…I mean, damn, I've watched a lot of bad movies, but that one is the only one I can say I honestly wasted my time.  I could have been doing something more productive than that...like trying to clone a bunny with a cardboard box and some batteries, then lamenting at how it's not working."

Couldn't sleep.

I'll dizzy myself in bed

denying myself of sleep

until the flesh of my belly is flush

flat against the fibers of a cheap cotton sheet

adjusting eyes somehow amplify

the crooked tempo of a cricket chirp

and the familiar whine of a passing train

on tracks I know ten blocks from here

out my window

rattling in its undrawn Venetian blinds

trembling in the frame

of poor modern colonial architecture

still less frightened than I am

more though

than the spider I smashed

beneath the ball of my uncovered foot

twice more then once again

after the life it knew collapsed onto

my orange clay tile and naked grout

leaving me with nothing more

than an unclear metaphor

drifting lazily about a darkened room

to lend a dizzy dream or two

only until I don't awaken

when the sun doesn't peer in

between the slats of my undrawn Venetian blinds

Another granted wish.

1. When did you start blogging and why?

I started "blogging" a few years before I signed up on Blogdrive.  Honestly, I have blogs all over the internet that were used for a while, then forgotten about.  As soon as I heard about Blogdrive I created an account and wrote my very first entry for SadisticLand on October 15, 2003.  I've been here for a while; not only for the services that Blogdrive provides, but also for the relationships I've formed, and to read other talented writers.

2. How do you use blogging to build friendships?

As Xaos put it: "I don't, really.  They just happen."  People drop in and leave a tag under an interesting handle.  So I drop by their blog, read a few, and maybe leave a tag.  Later I find out that we're both hooked on each others writing.  A conversation might build, links are exchanged, e-mails sometimes.  The rest is history.

3. Who do you read every day, rain or shine?

For everybody that I really read, I'm already signed up for entry notifications.  I have all of them linked down on my side section.  Xaos, Anna, Yen, and a few others.  I also regularly catch up on a few comedy sites and other miscellaneous reads.  Most of them are linked.

4. Why did you choose to share that piece of yourself in your profile photograph?

Which one?  The one on the side of my blog, or the one on my "full profile?"  Well, the one that's visible on my actual blog best represents what I actually look like…in a clear view.  And the one that you can see when you click a link marked sink your teeth in is a more artsy-scandalous picture that I thought everybody would enjoy.  Oh, and all of the photos that have been taken of me were also taken by me.  Photography is fun!  =)

5. How would you describe your writing style?

I tend to write heavily stylized poetry that is dense and textured with a flare of surreal metaphorical undertones.  I write so that almost every word is left open to vast interpretation.  As Adam put it, "SadisticLand maintains a patina of omniscience despite its relative brevity."  After all, my blog was created for the sole purpose of having an outlet to stylize myself and my work.  It's becoming a failed attempt…mostly because I've lost interest as of late.

6. If you could spend time with one person (other than your family/spouse/etc.,) who would you choose?

I've been moody, so I'm not so sure spending time with any one person would be beneficial for either this other person or myself.  On a better day, though, I'd go with Xaos.  I have my reasons.

7. What don't you write about?

Everything that is visible or obvious about myself to those I know outside of the internet.  There's really not much interest in it.  I wouldn't go so far as to call those topics a "secret," they just don't make for interesting material.  If you ask the questions, I won't lie about the answers.

8. How do you feel about meeting bloggers in real life?

I have my list.  I'd really like to get some of my favorite bloggers together and schedule a date to chat over coffee.  I'd also like to have some one-on-one time with a select few.  They know who they are.

9. Is there one blogger in particular that you find mirrors yourself?

Actually, yes.  Well, it's more like I'm absently following in her footsteps.  She knows who she is.

10. What is your favorite thing that you wrote?

That involves me looking way too far into the past.  I'm just not up for that right now.  Maybe later.

11. Have you written anything controversial?

Some adult content, foul/vulgar language, and mild violent references in the past.  Nothing too serious.  If you're not comfortable with yourself or if you're immature, then please…do us all a favor and click the "x."

12. Are you and your blogging persona the same person?

My blogging persona is myself at the deepest level.  I'm more myself here than anywhere else.

13. Have you ever anonymously posted on a site to flame them?

I try not to.

14. If you had a super power, what would it be?

This question seems out of place…but I'll go ahead and answer it anyway.  The power to manipulate.  Sort of like telekinesis with a side of mind-control.

15. Which five bloggers do you want to answer these questions?

If you want to answer them, go right on ahead.
